My Bliss.

Welcome to my blog. Finding balance between  photography, family and everything in between.

Domestic Diva (in training)

Some days just call for being all domestic. Or something like that. This is one thing I have never claimed to be. BUT. I can bake. That skill somehow found me. Im guessing it has something to do with my MAJOR sweet tooth. But hey....it works. Today, Dan has been busy working on the studio curb appeal (ok...its a little more than that...he's building a deck...Go Dan!) so I wanted to get out of the house. Now, normally going anywhere with BOTH my kids BY MYSELF is not happening. With the exception of to or from school. ha. Sorry...Im just not that brave. Dealing with kids who don't want to listen or throw fits in public just sounds like more work than its worth. I can play referee at home, thank you, where there is free Beer! Today, I took the plunge. Quick google search and I found a U-Pick farm not too far away. They opened at noon but there was NO WAY IN HELL I would venture out with Hungry kids. So I made it an even more adventurous trip and hauled the two kids to Sushi first. Yup thats right. Sushi. Lily is pretty dang good eating seared salmon (gag) but really its all about the cheesecake. Lennox however, feasted on Cheesecake and strawberries only (mother of the year award for me).

Full bellies....and off to the U-Pick farm for some blueberry picking. Oh but wait...THERE ARE NO BLUEBERRIES! Say what? You mean I braved this adventure and now they can't even pick blueberries. Kill me. There are blackberries. Ummm yeah....all over my property. Pretty sure going to a farm to pick their blackberries and then pay money for them equals hubby gonna kill me. Apples? Umm apples? How are my kids going to pick apples?  Oh....small trees. Okay...Im here...lets do this.

Could these two be any cuter? They both did a really good job picking apples off the low trees and now I have more apples then I would ever normally buy (Apple Bread coming soon) but hey, it was totally worth it. And upon checking out we visited their little "we pick" area and scored some blueberries and some other fabulous vegetables.

Home sweet home and I go all domestic and whipped out some TO DIE FOR BLUEBERRY MUFFINS! Oh I didnt make them up....it really is a recipe and that is what they are called. They really are to die for though. Original post with recipe is found on Allrecipes.com

TO DIE FOR BLUEBERRY MUFFINS

Muffins:

1  1/2 cups flour 3/4 cup of sugar 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp cinnamon (modified from original recipe) 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1 egg 1/3 cup milk 1 cup fresh blueberries

*Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, cinnamon. Measure Vegetable oil in a 1 cup measuring container; add the egg to the oil and then add milk until the 1 cup is full (this means you may not use exactly 1/3 cup of milk. that is approx measurement). Mix your wet ingredients with your dry ingredients. Fold in Blueberries.

Topping:

1/2 cup sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/4 cup butter 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

*Mix the sugar, flour, cinnamon in a bowl. Cube the butter before adding to your topping  mixture. Its a little easier if butter is at room temperature. Use a fork to help combine the butter with the topping mixture.

*Add your muffin mix to a muffin pan with or without liners. Fill to the top. Add your topping on each muffin. (I was very generous in my topping).

*Preheat Oven to  400 degrees.

Bake muffins for 20-25 minutes makes approx 12 muffins

Two recipe posts in a row. I should really get an award for that. ha ha ha. Actually the weather has been rather fall like and its making me want to bake!

More soon~
