My Bliss.

Welcome to my blog. Finding balance between  photography, family and everything in between.

Canby Cinema 8

Canby Cinema 8

It’s the weekend. And since the weather is slightly bipolar right now, outside time is hit and miss. My suggestion? Get a Mystery Movie pack from a local theater. I mean, snacks, movie theater popcorn, icee and a DVD surprise? Sounds like the prefect rainy weather treat. Intrigued?

Canby Cinema 8 has found a creative way to navigate this quarantine. As you can probably imagine not being able to go to a movie theater is hitting those businesses hard. I came across a friend whom posted about their experience with the mystery pack and I could not wait to give it a try. And not just once…but TWICE. We loved our first visit so much we have already went a 2nd time.

I won’t lie. I honestly could have cared less what movie we got. I was really going for the movie theater popcorn and the Bliss icee (Yes! You read that right! BLISS Icee. Clearly, I had to have it). To me, the movie was really just a bonus. But here is the thing? So far so good. Part of the fun was watching whatever ridiculous (or not) movie that we got. Our first visit we received a copy of “Police Academy” (We totally watched it). The 2nd visit we bought two packs. We ordered a small one and asked for a kids movie and then we chose an adult (rated R) pack. The kids got Despicable Me (LOVED IT) and we ended up with Sugar Hill that neither of us had seen before. You guys, I’m already ready for ROUND THREE!

This is totally worth the drive (I mean what else are you doing? #quarantined). Take the short (or long) drive to Canby and thank me after. It is EASY. You walk up to the outside window, order either a small or large pack, select your drinks, snacks and of course let them know you want butter on your popcorn (obviously!). They will ask if you want a “Kids Movie” Or you choose your rating, PG, PG-13 Or R. Or go all in and just say surprise me. Then someone brings a cart to the front door with your goodies in buckets. You grab them and off you run. The first time I made the kids sit in the car as I didn’t know what to expect (I have not let them go in anywhere) but the second time I let Lily walk up with us. The packages are $10 or $20 (SO CHEAP!) And you can add extra goodies if needed. Those are also completely affordable. No $10.00 junior mints. I promise. (I highly recommend the nerds rope!)

I really appreciate the creative way Canby Cinema 8 has chosen to navigate this pandemic and honestly hope that they continue offering “take home” packages post quarantine. We watch movies at home a lot but there is nothing that compares to movie theater popcorn. I am thankful that we can hopefully help keep this theater alive by purchasing these mystery packs. I also hope many of you will do the same.

If you decide to play…Don’t forget to take photos, tag me (and the Cinema) and let me know what you think? Remember, its not completely about the random movie. But who knows you may end up with a classic that you LOVE, or you may watch something you have never seen before. Take a chance and have fun with it.

Thank you to Canby Cinema 8 for giving us something to do on these rainy days and quarantine life. These small blessings are really the important things.

More information on times (which is daily 3-8) and menu can be found on their social media accounts! Be sure to give them a follow so you can stay up to date!
